This roller screen is one of the most robust and efficient way to separate plastic pieces by size in plastic recycling. Sometimes referred to as a roller screen, this system offers an excellent solution for high efficiency screening and separation of plastic bottles, cardboard, or any given material by size.
As you can see in this video, there are rotating rollers that push the feedstock forward. Larger items stay on top while smaller sized “fines” fall through the gaps between the rollers. These are collected at the bottom on a separate conveyor system.
A major advantage of this system is that it is suitable for a variety of materials including wet and sticky ones. Compared with the traditional vibrating screen, the roller screen is not easily clogged and offers a higher separation efficiency.
