Our popular PP PE plastic sink float separation tank uses water as a medium to segregate polypropylene (pp) and polyethylene (pe) from a co-mingled plastic streams through their relatively low densities. At the same time, the tank does an excellent job of soaking and cleaning the material for further processing.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
When a co-mingled plastic stream enters the floating separation tank, plastics with densities above water (1 g/cm3) will sink to the bottom along with contaminants such as dirt, rocks, and metals. Lighter plastics such as PP and PE with densities below water will float to the top and effectively separated. This is one of the most simple, yet effective ways of segregating plastic types for recycling.
Our newly designed plastic floating separation tank improves upon washing efficiency while reducing water consumption by implementing a “W” shaped bottom dividing the tank into two halves. As the dirty material stream enters the first half of the tank, a majority of the contaminants will be collected. This portion of the tank may require frequent water changes and filtration while the second half remains relatively clean.
